Arsenal are eyeing German starlet Lewis Holtby as a possible
replacement for want away winger Theo Walcott, who like club skipper Robin van
Persie has just 12 months left on his contract, and has rejected talks of a new
deal.
The 21-year old German international has an English father
and a German mother, and is said to be keen on moving to the Premier League in
the coming years despite his early success in Germany.
Holtby signed for Schalke 04 in 2009 and was sent out on
loan to Bochum and Mainz again the following season to gain first-team
experience,Holtby played his first full season for Huub Stevens’ Schalke side
last time around.
The German international has however indicated that a move
to England was something that was bound to happen in the near future.
“I am very happy in Schalke. But I would be lying if I said
I will definitely extend my contract,” Holtby is said to have told reporters
earlier.
“My dream was always the Premier League – and someday I will
make this step.”
With 23-year old Walcott is yet to agree on a new deal, Arsenal
manager Arsene Wenger is ready to test Schalke’s resolve for the midfielder who
could easily replace Theo Walcott in the Arsenal side. Rumours have it that Arsenal
could lose the winger for nothing next summer if they don’t sell him now or get
him to put pen to paper on a new contract.
Walcott is said to want increased wages near a 100,000 Pounds
per week.
Now we are looking at Lewis Holtby, some one we ought to be looking at though, he's that good.
As a replayment for Walcott? Wenger please.
Holtby is a an Arsenal kind of player, silky moves on the ball, an eye for the perfect pass and can really dribble well, i see him as a Nasri replacement which we do need.
As for Theo? he wants a 100,000 a week, he scored 8 goal and made 8 assists last season for God sakes.
Don't think he has worked hard enough to deserve that much, i think he should concentrate on delivering for Arsenal before demanding an increase.
MY THOUGHTS ?
Holtby would be a great signing for Arsenal, a whole lot of player would in prove the Arsenal squad but we really need to evaluate where we need to improve and the buy or promote from within but if Holby would be a good replacement for Theo ? NO CAN DO ! but he would be a very nice addition to the team, would be like having Nasri back.
As for Theo's wages?
Please pay him, other clubs would, we need his experience and we don't want to give our rivals all the experience he's garnered at Arsenal.
